Kellie Tremaine grew up in Portland, Oregon. She studied Aerospace Engineering at Cal Poly, in San Luis Obispo, California, graduating with her Bachelors and Masters in 2012. Since then she worked at Northrop Grumman in Guidance Navigation and Controls and Structural Dynamics. She is currently also studying business at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Martin Gilligan grew up near the Bay Area in California, moving to Howell, Michigan before high school. He studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at Michigan Tech in the Upper Peninsula, joining the Air Force ROTC as a sophomore. After graduation, he became an Air Force officer and received a Masters in Computer Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio. He was then stationed at Los Angeles AFB doing Acquisitions for Air Force Space Command.

Kellie & Martin found each other with online dating and shortly thereafter met on March 19, 2015 in Hermosa Beach, California. In the summer of 2016, they bought a house and moved to San Antonio, after Martin was assigned to Lackland AFB doing cyber security. Kellie continues to work remotely for Northrop Grumman, commuting to LA monthly to check in with work and attend UCLA. They share their house with three cats and two dogs.
